ABOUT

RecoverEase founder, Lauren and Hannah, met while volunteering at a horse rescue on the Colorado Front Range. The two were introduced by Hannah’s then 6 year old daughter who struck up a chat with Lauren and said “You have to meet my mom!” The two immediately became fast friends, supporting one another through cross-country moves, weddings, births and surgeries.

In 2018, Lauren had a double mastectomy patient and joined the sisterhood of thousands of women who have endured this incredibly difficult physical and emotional process. This is our story, the story of RecoverEase, came about.

Hannah, who now lived on the East Coast, flew out to support Lauren in the initial recovery phase. She was there to help smooth things in barn operations, keep the laughter going and assist with the dreaded drains.

After Lauren arrived home from her double mastectomy, she immediately headed to the barn. Over the following days, she increasingly struggled with comfort. The garments on the market, designed to contain her post surgical apparatus, were each less comfortable than the last.

Over the first week, Lauren’s discomfort became almost unbearable, largely due to the ill-fitting recovery garment she had been provided post-surgery. It was apparent that a better solution needed to be developed to manage the drains. Lauren needed was a soft, safe, close to the body containment garment to prevent snagging of drainage tubes the would house the bolus, pumps and drains. She needed a garment that was lightweight, soft on the skin and easy to get in and out of without raising her arms above her shoulders. Accessibility for self care and flexibility for placement, especially during sleep, was paramount, so it could be shifted for comfort and managed without a hassle. If possible, the ability to be able to wear her own clothing again would be wonderful...

Brainstorming together late one night at barn check, with horses’ heads leaning in close to us over stall doors, we created the idea for a garment that met every single requirement to ease Lauren’s recovery - RecoverEase.

We knew we designed something special, and quickly created a prototype. It was life changing for Lauren, and we realized the opportunity was upon us to help so many women in their post surgical recovery from mastectomy. We became determined to find a way to bring RecoverEase to market to ease the recovery of hundreds of thousands of breast cancer patients contending with the same recovery discomfort. We also decided there was an opportunity to be a part of the cure for breast cancer, so we are donating a percentage of our profits to breast cancer research annually.
